TempMinder® MRC105AG

MRC105AG and MRC499AG Wireless Weather Stations:

This 12/24 hour clock "QUICK FIX" applies to both the MRC105AG AND the MRC499AG:

I can't figure out how to change the time from 24 hour to 12 hour clock!

To switch from 24hr clock, press & hold the "up" button.  This is the third sliver button on the right hand side of the receiver for the MRC105AG, or the bottom right hand side oval button for the MRC499AG.  On the MRC499AG, press the top part of the up/down button to toggle between 12 and 24 hours clocks.  If you can see the (TINY) AM or PM icon, you are in the 12 hour mode.  If no icon appears you are in the 24 hour mode. We suggest you do this after noon as you will then see a tiny "PM" icon on the screen.

I have a MRC105AG.
The Moon Phase should show that tomorrow is a full moon but I don't see anything.

On the moon phase, your unit is actually showing the last quarter (dark side). It will switch to all white (full moon) at midnight tonight.

I cannot open the door on the transmitter to place the batteries inside!  Help!

Upon 1st use, the transmitter’s battery cover may be difficult to remove. If that is the case, remove the brass screw completely. Insert a strong sharp object (like a jeweler’s screw driver) and pry up as hard as necessary. Do not worry about breaking the cover. It will pop off first.

TempMinder® MRI-177AN Color LCD Weather Station

I can't figure out how to change the time zone on my MRI-177AN, and can't find it in the instructions!

The section on “How to change time zones” was inadvertantly left off the manual, sorry!  Here you go:

On the rear of the receiver, press and release the “satellite dish” button. With the icon displayed on the front, press and release the “zone” button until your desired time zone appears (PA-Pacific, MO-Mountain, CE-Central or EA-Eastern). Sorry, there is no NF for Newfoundland as the signal from Colorado does not reach that far. Once you see the correct zone, you may press the “clock” button on the top of the unit or wait 15 to 20 seconds for it to register. When the MRI-177AN receives the next transmission from Colorado, it will automatically set the correct time for your zone.

I changed the batteries in my floating RS888 transmitter, and now the entire unit (MRC880) has stopped working!

Whenever you change the batteries you must use the reset on both the transmitter and the monitor.  On the floater, the reset is a tiny hole beneath the blue band.  Gently use a pencil or straightened paper clip to push the reset.  On the monitor, there is a similar reset on the back above the battery compartment, or you can simply remove the monitor's batteries for a moment to reset the unit.  The transmitter will blink red (trying to locate the monitor) and you should be back in business shortly!

I changed the batteries in my outdoor RS848 temp/humidity transmitter, and now the entire unit (MRC800) has stopped working!

Whenever you change the batteries you must use the reset on both the transmitter and the monitor.  On the RS848, floater, the reset is inside the battery compartment.

Why does my floating pool temp monitor (RS888) keep tipping over in my pool?  All of your pictures show the unit floating upright!

If you have installed lithium batteries in the floating transmitter, your RS888 will not float properly.  Lithium batteries weigh about half as much as alkaline batteries, so the transmitter is lighter and will not float upright. Thanks, Nick!

The floater in my hot tub's display has become milky and hard to read! What can I do?
Bill from Wisconsin let us know that MR CLEAN MAGIC ERASE works great to clear up the display window!  Thanks, Bill !

TempMinder® MRC68JM Weather Station Rain Gauge

j0283474.gif

I've installed the red batteries that it came with and nothing.
The red batteries included with your unit were factory test batteries.  Replace these (TRANSMITTER FIRST) with fresh alkaline batteries (or lithium for the outside transmitter in cold weather.)  The rain gauge will not work if frozen, so take the rain cup in for the winter.
My receiver is not showing the outside temp even though it is 20 feet away through the window.
The windows, if double paned, are interfering with transmission.  Move the receiver to a few locations until you get a good signal.
Why can't I get the remote humidity to work on my MRC68JM?  Everything else is fine.

The MRC68JM transmits outside temperature but does not record outside humidity.

My receiver is showing millimeters instead of inches.  How can I switch?

Push and hold the His/Unit button on the back of the receiver to toggle between inches and millimeters of rainfall.
I can't seem to reset the rain gauge to zero, even though I read the directions!?!
There is an error in the manual!  You need to press and release the SINCE button once, then immediately press and hold it for the 2 seconds. That will clear the history and set a new start date.

Here are some

"quick fixes"

and tips

 for all TempMinder®

 Thermometers,

Weather Stations,

transmitters

& receivers.

Always use fresh, alkaline batteries.  DO NOT use non-alkaline, rechargeables and "Dollar Store" batteries.
Lithium batteries allow superior transmission in cold temperatures.  Use them for your outdoor transmitters.
Double-paned glass can cause interference- sometimes a cement wall works much better.
99% of TempMinder "problems" are solved by moving the receiver and/or transmitter to a few different locations until you get a strong signal.
Other wireless gadgets can cause interference.  Keep in mind doorbells, garage doors, microwave ovens and wireless routers.
Take your rain cup inside for the winter (unless you need an extra large ice cube maker!)
Outdoor transmitters should be placed under an eave or sill, out of direct sunlight and drenching rain for best performance.
Remove any protective stickers from the transmitter and receiver displays.  Yes, people have really called us asking why the numbers don't ever change!
Our TempMinders® are not meant to replace NOAA or Environment Canada's Weather Office.  A variance of up to 3-4 degrees Fahrenheit or 1-2 degrees Celcius is normal.
Remember, the temperature on the weather channel may be several degrees different than the temperature at your house.
Always try fresh batteries and using the "reset" if the temp and/or humidity are blinking.  Use a straightened paper clip at the reset, and wait to hear a tiny click.
If nothing suggested here helps, shoot us an e-mail with your TempMinder® model number and a brief description of the problem so we can lend a hand!

CLICK HERE for TPMS TROUBLESHOOTERS (what we learned AFTER we printed the original manuals!) Complete instruction manuals can be found on the Instruction Manuals page if yours have disappeared like most instruction manuals tend to do.

DO NOT OVERCHARGE YOUR MONITOR!!!
Your TPMS monitor only requires 5-8 hours of charging to run for approximately THIRTY DAYS!
If you leave it plugged in and charging constantly, you will burn out the monitor.
